Taneka Taylor

Welcome! My name is Taneka Taylor (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing tele-health therapy in Chicago, Illinois. Since 2014, I have worked in various community mental health centers providing compassionate support to individuals who have faced a multitude of diverse life experiences. Whether the struggles my clients are facing are relational, mood, or trauma related, the techniques I use are oriented toward enhancing self-understanding and healing, and to ultimately foster healthier self-soothing coping skills. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and being a woman of color, I understand the importance of finding a therapist who is culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and has an understanding of systemic oppression that affects many facets of life. For those reasons, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for my clients and I prioritize meeting clients where they are by listening to their story and supporting their right to self-determination. I encourage each individual to set their therapeutic goals through collaborative discussion, and utilize strength-based perspective to treat each client with dignity and respect.
